FAQ / How to add parental control

1) Go to all add-ons tab, scroll down to "Pin Sentry"
2) Highlight Pin Sentry and press the "menu" button on your streamsmart remote
3) Choose "add-on settings"
4) Set pin value then select okay at the bottom, back out of add on settings
5) Click ok on the pin Sentry add on, Choose "plugins" and find the ones that you want to set a pin on.

FAQ / How to run a speedtest

Press the home button on your streamsmart remote then choose streamsmart tools/speedtest.
- Press the cursor button on your remote, then use the directional arrows to select start/begin test.
- The important information here is the download speed
- Once the test is complete, press the cursor button again to turn the cursor off.

The only speedtest that matters is the one run on your Streamsmart. As this is the device in question.

FAQ / TV Guide fix

At any given moment we may have multiple TV guides on the media center.  Take note of which one you are using and read the applicable fix below.

- For all guides you must be on the New OTA Rom version 8.0.2.  Follow this link for Updating OTA.   http://forum.streamsmart.tv/index.php?topic=5.0
- S3 models will not play content but will show programming.
- You must have your date and time set on auto in Android home page settings.
- Run the wizard to get the update. The Guide is still in Beta and is not perfect.

UK/USA TV Guide Fix & Info (Blue Icon).

If it gets stuck at 0 seconds or any number for more then 1 min then back out and Reload Guide, by pressing return.

If you get no programming do the the TV Guide fix.  This may take a few attempts of the fix to get programming.
Blue guide fix
1) Press return button scroll down to Tools, select Soft Reset and press ok.
2) Reload Guide

Once you click on a channel, you will have multiple of sources to choose from.  If one doesn't work, choose another.
If you choose Channelup you must have a subscription. Not all have subscription. 
 
USA Guide Fix & Info (Red Icon)

If it get stuck at 0 seconds or any number for more then 1 min then back out and Reload Guide.

Red TV Guide fix
1) Highlight TV Guide
2) Press menu button
3) Scroll down to Echo TV Guide Settings
4) Scroll right to Maintenance
5) Scroll down to Reset TV Guide files (database ini and xml)
6) Scroll down to Delete addons.ini file (Will force close ini download next launch)
7) Press the return button, no need to scroll down and press ok
Load TV Guide

If you still can not Guide to work showing no programming , UK channels or Echo logo.   Run StreamSmart wizard to get correct TV Guide version.

FAQ / How to watch any movie

Want to watch movies?
* Scroll to the "Movies" tab or as you may notice several of these are also located under the "trending" tab aka category.
* Scroll to the "Movies" tab
* Open your favorite addon under one of the above tabs
* Choose a category such as (people watching, trending, popular, genres, etc)

How do I find a specific movie?
* Scroll to the "Movies" tab
* Open your favorite addon under one of the above tabs
* In the category section (people watching, trending, popular, genres, etc.) choose "Search" which may be located on the bottom of the list.
* Type the name of your movie and press ok.
Note: Some addons have different search criteria than others.  Meaning some may want you to type the full name  in the search field and others may be okay with a partial name.  Most do not need the words "the, or, of, and"

Is your search coming up blank?
This happens when your search criteria has failed.  Simply enter the search again and adjust your keywords based on the note above.

FAQ / Real Stream

Receiving a Real Stream error?
 Refresh Media Player/Kodi by pressing the red Kodi button twice and try again. If that doesn't work run the Streamsmart wizard.

When opening Real Stream we have two views (list and EPG).  Press the menu button on your streamsmart remote to toggle views.

View types:

List:  Offers most sporting events of the day and following days.  If the event hasn't started the channel listed on the right is what will play when selected.

Use the left arrow and pick your sport and will just show your listings.

While watching you can press the return button on your streamsmart remote to show a small picture of the event and you can choose another event.  To get back to full screen press the return button again.

EPG: List of channels and may offer programming.  Total 120 listings.  Some may have no listing but may have content.

Play Channel:  Offers the list of all channels to play from.

If your not getting the days schedule or just a messed up schedule.  Press menu button,  settings,  scroll right to advanced, then scroll to Troubleshoot: Re-fetch schedule. Click on it.  Back out of schedule and re-enter.

Receiving lots of buffering? Press the menu button on your streamsmart remote then choose settings, scroll down and change the Server Location.

There is a option to record but It doesn't work, so don't bother.

FAQ / Remote isnt working

Remote not working?
- Change batteries or charge the remote if using a USB or Bluetooth remote.
- Press the cursor button and then move the arrows to ensure the cursor is not on.
- Power cycle your streamsmart by turning it off and then on again.
- Point the remote directly at the box.

Note: If your remote is still not working then it may be time to purchase a new one.  Return to the person or website that you purchased your streamsmart from for a new remote.  Most of them should offer a keyboard remote that has a further range and makes typing and navigation really easy.
* In the interim any USB or Bluetooth remote, keyboard or mouse should work.  You can also use the app on your phone but this will only partially work as it only works inside of Kodi.  Search Kodi remote in your app store.

FAQ / YouTube reached max limit error

YouTube is saying I reached my max limit
Dont take it personal, this is a limit that kodi has.  Good news is there are a couple of work arounds. 
• Access the YouTube addon through the Android apps.  This can be done through either of these paths. 
   1) press the home button on your streamsmart remote/ then apps/ YouTube
   2) from inside of Kodi system tab/ programs/ android apps/ YouTube

• You can run the StreamSmart wizard and the reached my max limit should go away

If you really feel like geeking out on this then change your youtube API to a custom one and you should be good too.   If you have to ask what this statement about API means then you should not attempt this option.
